Where to Stay
The Belle of Baton Rouge is the Hotel Sponsor for the 2013 Rouge-Orleans with rooms blocked for particpants on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday night. It’s also the location of the captains meeting, packet pickup, and Race Kickoff Party. In addition, the pre-race social at Lucy’s Surf Bar is walking distance from the Hotel.
Please keep in mind that the race takes place on MARDI GRAS WEEKEND. The Krewe os Spanish Town starts on Saturday at Noon (12:00PM) in downtown Baton Rouge. If you are starting in Wave 4 (1:00PM Saturday) there WILL BE TRAFFIC, so plan accordingly. If you have trouble booking a room please send us an email at TheRougeOrleans@gmail.com.
Rouge-Orleans Social (Updated 1-10-2013)
Come join us on Thursday (February 7th) for food, drinks, and fun at the Rouge-Orleans Social at Lucy’s Surf Bar from 6pm-9pm. (The informational meeting that was originally scheduled for Thursday has ben moved to Friday – see below). Food and drinks will be available for purchase, as will Official Rouge-Orleans Merchandise. The social is not mandatory, unless you want to have a good time. This is a great opportunity to meet and connect with runners from around the world.
The Rouge-Orleans Informational Meeting will be held on Friday (February 8th) from 4;00pm-5:00pm in the Iberville room the Belle of Baton Rouge. The meeting is Mandatory for all solo runners (crew or no crew) and the Team Captains. If a team captain can’t make the meeting, please send a substitute. Kick-Off Party & Packet Pick-up
The Kick-Off party will take place in the atrium of the Belle of Baton Rouge from 5:00pm-7:45pm on Friday (February 8th). Complimentary Jambalaya, salad, and rolls will be available, as will as a cash bar. Baton Rouge Music Studios will provide a DJ from 5:00pm-6:00pm, followed by a live performance from 6:00pm-7:00pm. Official race merchandise will be available for purchase from 5:00pm-7:45pm. The first wave of the race will start at 8:00pm on the levee and we encourage everyone to join us.
Packet Pick-Up will be available on Friday (February 8th) from 5:00m-7:45pm. Each member of a team must be present to pick-up the team race packet. In addition, every participant (teams and solo) must show that they have the required night running items. Review the race bible for more information on night running requirements for runners and pacers/crewmembers. Teams/crews must also have a printed copy of the race bible and course maps on them at all times.
